Restoring Hope Through Clean Water Access

In many rural communities across Somaliland, access to clean and reliable water remains a daily challenge. Families often travel long distances to fetch water, and during prolonged droughts, traditional sources dry up or become unsafe. This burden affects health, education, agriculture, and household income, placing women and children at particular risk.

DAAD Foundation works hand in hand with communities to implement sustainable water solutions that respond to both immediate needs and long-term resilience. Our interventions include drilling and rehabilitating boreholes, constructing shallow wells, installing solar-powered water systems, developing water storage facilities, and establishing community water management committees to ensure sustainability

Beyond infrastructure, we promote hygiene awareness, sanitation facilities, and safe water handling practices to reduce waterborne diseases. Schools and health centers are also supported with improved water access, creating safer learning and treatment environments. By integrating climate resilience measures, we help communities prepare for future droughts and environmental stress.

Reliable water access reduces disease outbreaks, improves nutrition, supports livestock and farming activities, and allows children, especially girls, to remain in school. Clean water strengthens not only public health but also economic productivity and community stability.
