The DAAD Foundation focuses on strategically selected regions in Somaliland, prioritizing areas based on their specific needs and challenges. Our program interventions are designed to address these needs directly, fostering sustainable development, resilience, and improved livelihoods.
In Sool and Sanaag, predominantly rural areas face fragile agricultural systems, recurring droughts, and food insecurity. We focus on strengthening agriculture, promoting climate-smart farming, improving access to clean water, and supporting community-based food security programs.
Togdheer is home to many pastoral communities affected by chronic water scarcity, which impacts livestock and local food security. Our interventions include sustainable water resource development, pastoral livelihood support, livestock health services, and climate adaptation initiatives.
In Awdal and Maroodi Jeex, semi-urban and rural populations experience low agricultural productivity and pressures from internal migration. Our work prioritizes boosting agricultural productivity, expanding livelihood opportunities for youth and women, supporting education, and strengthening local community organizations.
Along the Sahil coastal region, communities rely heavily on fishing but face poor infrastructure, water shortages, and limited market access. We focus on improving fishing infrastructure, enhancing water and sanitation systems, supporting alternative livelihoods, and providing training in sustainable fishing and business skills.
DAAD Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Somaliland, dedicated to improving lives through sustainable development. We collaborate with government bodies, private partners, and international organizations to help vulnerable communities gain access to education, healthcare, clean water, and livelihood opportunities.
